ASNA Monarch® 3.1 for Microsoft Visual Studio® 2005


Installation Notes


Installing ASNA Monarch 3.1 on the PC

Prior to installing, you must have TCP/IP installed on your PC (and on your System i).

To Install from ASNA Monarch from Developer.asna.com

  1. Go to Developer.asna.com and sign in with your login information.

  2. Select the red Download Software button on the top, right side of the page.

  3. Select AVR for .NET 8.1/DataGate 8.1 under Product downloads on the left.  The Visual RPG download page with Release Notes will display. 
    It is recommended to view the Release Notes prior to installation.

  4. Select the Download now button to install Visual RPG.

  5. Select the Run button to download and run the Installation. 

     Select the Save button to save the .exe and run at another time.

6.  Follow the instructions on the screens and reboot the system when done if required.

 

To Install from ASNA Product Suite CD

1.      Insert the ASNA Product Suite CD into your CD drive.

·      If your CD drive has AutoPlay, a screen will automatically appear.  Select the options below to install AVR. 

·      If you do not have AutoPlay installed on your CD drive, start Microsoft Windows and from the Start Menu, select Run, and enter the path:  E:\Setup.EXE, where ‘E’ is the CD-Rom drive.  Then select the options below to install AVR.

2.      Select ASNA Visual RPG® 8.1 for Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2005.

3.      Select the INSTALL button.

 You can also view the Readme file by clicking the READ ME button.  

Note:  On Windows Vista systems, you will be prompted to Allow the software to run.  Select Allow to Continue.

4.      After the setup file is located, the Welcome screen will display.  Select Next > to continue.

5.     The installation process will automatically begin, and the component being installed will display in the title bar.  Visual RPG 8.1 for Visual Studio 2005 will install, as well as ASNA Client for .NET, Examples and Visual RPG 8.1 for Visual Studio 2005 Help.  Please note that the installation process will take awhile, and could take up to approximately 10 minutes.

6.      When the installation has completed, you will be prompted to restart your computer now.  Select No if you will restart your computer later.  Select the Finish button to close the installation. 

7.      All installation dialogs will close, and you will not be taken back to the Visual RPG 8.1 for Visual Studio 2005 Setup menu.  The installation process to install Visual RPG has been completed.

Continue with the steps below to license the Components and start Visual Studio 2005 and Visual RPG 8.1.

 


Installing ASNA Monarch Collector on the System i

To Install ASNA Monarch Collector on the System i

In order to install the ASNA Monarch Collector on the System i from a Save file (obtained from the unzipped download file), you must have TCP/IP installed on both your PC and on your System i. (You must also have FTP installed on your System i).

1.  Sign onto the System i using an account with *SECADM authority.

2.  Create a Save file in QGPL by entering the following command:

     CRTSAVF FILE( QGPL/ASNAINST)

3.  To upload the Save file from the PC, an FTP session must be started to the System i.

4.  From Windows, select the START button, select RUN and enter the following command:

     FTP as400tcpipaddress

    where as400tcpipaddress is either a TCP/IP address such as 198.176.129.35, or a machine name that is registered either in a DNS or a HOSTS file. 

5.  When prompted for a user name and password, enter the appropriate information that will give you privileges to upload data to the System i.

6.  Once FTP has been started, upload the Save file to the System i by entering the following commands:

     a) binary

     b) put x:\folder\ASNAINST QGPL/ASNAINST
        where x:\folder\ is the PC disk drive and folder where you unzipped ASNAMNRCH.zip

     c) quit

7.   On the System i, restore the library called ASNAINST from the Save file in QGPL by entering the following command.
      RSTLIB SAVLIB(ASNAINST) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL)

8.   Enter ASNAINST/MONLOAD to start the installation.

9.       The ASNA license agreement is displayed.  If you agree with the terms of the license, press the F8 key to continue with the installation.  If you do not agree, press the F3 key and the installation will be cancelled.

10.   Next, the installation program displays the installation options.  The installation can be cancelled at any time by pressing the F3 key.  To continue with the installation, press the F6 key. 

11.   If DataGate is not installed on your System i, you will receive a warning that states that the Monarch Collector cannot be used until DataGate is installed and licensed.  If you see the warning screen, press Enter to continue with the installation, otherwise press the F3 key. 

12.  Next, the following warning screen is displayed.  Press Enter to perform the installation, otherwise press the F3 key. 

13.  Once the installation has completed, the ASNAINST Save file is no longer needed, and may be deleted.  The ASNAINST library is automatically deleted.
 


Uninstalling ASNA Monarch 3.1 from the PC

To Remove ASNA Monarch

  1. Select Start – Settings - Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs.

      For Windows Vista, select Start - Control Panel - Programs and Features.

2.       Select ASNA Monarch 3.1.

3.       Select the Remove button.

      For Windows Vista, select the Uninstall button, or right-click and select Uninstall.

4.       Click Yes to begin removing ASNA DataGate Component Suite 8.1.  Click No to return to the previous screen.

Release Notes


This version of Monarch requires installation of these ASNA Products:

  1. ASNA Visual RPG 8.1 for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.

  2. ASNA Monarch Collector 3.1.

  3. Monarch Collector must be licensed. See Licensing notes below.

  4. DataGate 8.1 for IBM System i.

The following collateral products are applicable to Monarch 3.1

  1. DataGate 8.1 WebPak.

  2. DataGate 8.1 for SQL Server.
     


Compatibility with Monarch 3.0

·         You may install AVR 8.1 and Monarch 3.1 on the same machine as AVR 8.0 and Monarch 3.0.

·         Existing Monarch 3.0 Galleries and GamePlans will work with Monarch 3.1.

·         System i installation: You must use DataGate 8.1 and Monarch Collector version 3.1 and above.
 


Monarch Collector 3.1 must be licensed

The Monarch Collector License is based upon the System i Model and Serial Number.  After installing the Monarch Collector, follow these steps to license Monarch Collector:

  1. Open Monarch 3.1.

  2. View Help - About.

  3. Select About Servers.

  4. Select Database Name for your System i.

  5. Select Get Server Information and confirm that the Collector is the correct version.

  6. Select Renew License and enter licensing details.

  7. Select Close.
