Installation Notes


Installing ASNA Monarch 3.0 on the PC

Prior to installing, you must have TCP/IP installed on your PC (and on your iSeries).

To Install from ASNA .NET Product Suite CD

  1. Insert the ASNA .NET Product Suite CD into your CD drive.

  1. The Product Menu will automatically display. Select ASNA Monarch 3.0.

  2. Select the INSTALL button.

          Note that you can also view the Readme file by selecting the READE ME button.

  3. After the setup file is located, the Welcome screen will display.  Select Next > to continue. 

  4. The License Agreement dialog will display.  Select “I accept the terms of the license agreement” and select the Next> button (which will be available after you click the “I accept….” option). 

  5. The Customer Information dialog will display.  Your computer’s user name and company name will display.  You can change either as desired.  When finished, select Next > to continue. 

  6. A dialog will display to select a complete or custom setup type.  Select the desired setup type.  Complete is recommended, but requires the most disk space.  Select Next > to continue.  To review any of the previous settings, select < Back.

  7. At this point, ASNA Monarch 3.0 is ready to be installed.  Select Install to continue.

  8. The installation process will begin, and the component being installed will display in the title bar. 

  9. When the installation has completed, select the Finish button to continue.  The installation is now complete. 
     


Installing ASNA Monarch Collector on the iSeries

To Install ASNA Monarch Collector on the iSeries

In order to install the ASNA Monarch Collector on the iSeries from a Save file (obtained from the unzipped download file), you must have TCP/IP installed on both your PC and on your iSeries. (You must also have FTP installed on your iSeries).

1.  Sign onto the iSeries using an account with *SECADM authority.

2.  Create a Save file in QGPL by entering the following command:

     CRTSAVF FILE( QGPL/ASNAINST)

3.  To upload the Save file from the PC, an FTP session must be started to the iSeries.

4.  From Windows, select the START button, select RUN and enter the following command:

     FTP as400tcpipaddress

    where as400tcpipaddress is either a TCP/IP address such as 198.076.129.35, or a machine name that is registered either in a DNS or a HOSTS file. 

5.  When prompted for a user name and password, enter the appropriate information that will give you privileges to upload data to the iSeries.

6.  Once FTP has been started, upload the Save file to the iSeries by entering the following commands:

     a) binary

     b) put x:\folder\ASNAINST QGPL/ASNAINST
        where x:\folder\ is the PC disk drive and folder where you unzipped ASNAMNRCH.zip

     c) quit

7.   On the iSeries, restore the library called ASNAINST from the Save file in QGPL by entering the following command.
      RSTLIB SAVLIB(ASNAINST) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL)

8.   Enter ASNAINST/MONLOAD to start the installation.

9.       The ASNA license agreement is displayed.  If you agree with the terms of the license, press the F8 key to continue with the installation.  If you do not agree, press the F3 key and the installation will be cancelled.

10.   Next, the installation program displays the installation options.  The installation can be cancelled at any time by pressing the F3 key.  To continue with the installation, press the F6 key. 

11.   If DataGate is not installed on your iSeries, you will receive a warning that states that the Monarch Collector cannot be used until DataGate is installed and licensed.  If you see the warning screen, press Enter to continue with the installation, otherwise press the F3 key. 

12.  Next, the following warning screen is displayed.  Press Enter to perform the installation, otherwise press the F3 key. 

13.  Once the installation has completed, the ASNAINST Save file is no longer needed, and may be deleted.  The ASNAINST library is automatically deleted.
 


Uninstalling ASNA Monarch 3.0 from the PC

To Remove ASNA Monarch

  1. Select Start – Settings - Control Panel.

  2. Select Add/Remove Programs.

  3. Select ASNA Monarch 3.0.

  4. Select the Change/Remove button.

  5. Select the Remove option, then select Next > to begin removing ASNA Monarch 3.0. 

  6. A dialog will display asking if you wish to remove ASNA Monarch 3.0.

  7. Select Yes to begin the uninstall process, or select No to cancel the installation process.

Release Notes


This version of Monarch requires installation of these ASNA Products:

  1. Visual RPG 8.0 for Visual Studio 2005.

  2. Monarch Collector 3.0.

  3. Collector must be licensed. See Licensing notes below.

  4. DataGate 8.0 for IBM System i.

The following collateral products are applicable to Monarch 3.0

  1. DataGate 8.0 WebPak.

  2. DataGate 8.0 for SQL Server.
     


Compatibility with Monarch 2.0

·         You may install AVR 8.0 and Monarch 3.0 on the same machine as AVR 7.2 and Monarch 2.0.

·         Existing Monarch 2.0 Galleries and GamePlans will work with Monarch 3.0.

·         At this time, there is no conversion utility available to upgrade Monarch 2.0 (Visual Studio 2003) projects to Monarch 3.0 (Visual Studio 2005) projects.

·         iSeries installation: You must use DataGate 8.0 and Monarch Collector version 3.0 and above.
 


Monarch Collector 3.0 must be licensed

The Monarch Collector License is based upon the iSeries Model and Serial Number.  After installing the Monarch Collector, follow these steps to license Monarch Collector:

  1. Open Monarch 3.0.

  2. View Help - About.

  3. Select About Servers.

  4. Select Database Name for your iSeries.

  5. Select Get Server Information and confirm that the Collector is the correct version.

  6. Select Renew License and enter licensing details.

  7. Select Close.
