You will only need to
install ASNA DataGate® for Windows Servers and Desktops, DataGate® for IBM® System i™or ASNA DataGate® WebPak on a system
in which you are going to deploy an application.
DataGate already
exists on development systems in which the ASNA Visual RPG® for
Microsoft® Visual Studio 2005® or DataGate®
Component Suite for Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2005 have been installed.
To Install the DataGate for Windows
Servers and Desktops Installation
DataGate and supporting components are automatically installed with Visual RPG for Visual Studio 2005 and DataGate Component Suite for Visual Studio 2005.
To Install from ASNA Developer Network (DevNet.asna.com)
Go to http://devnet.asna.com.
Click on Sign In link on the top right corner and sign in to your DevNet account, or select Create an Account on the left to create a new account.
Once you are signed in, click on the Downloads link at the top.
Scroll down and select the product and version you wish to download.
On the next screen, the list of products in the product suite selected will display for you to select from.
Select the product to install. The Release Notes for that product will display. In the right hand corner "Downloads" window, you will see the list of products available based on your sign in. Select the icon of the product to install. The installation exe will display for you to Run now, or Save to your system and install later.
To Install from ASNA Product Suite CD
1.
Contact ASNA to acquire licensing information.
2. Insert the ASNA Product Suite CD into your CD drive.
If you do not have AutoPlay installed on your CD
drive, start Microsoft Windows and from the Start Menu, select Run,
and enter the path: E:SETUP.EXE, where ‘E’ is the
CD-Rom drive.
Note that you can also view the
Readme file by selecting the
READ ME button.
5. After the setup file is located, the Welcome screen will display. Follow the instructions on the screen. The main screens that will occur are:

Selecting which components to install
After you have completed the DataGate for Windows Servers and Desktops
installation procedure, you can start DataGate at any time.
1.
Start DataGate by selecting
Start – Programs - ASNA .NET Product Suite - DataGate - DataGate Database
Manager.
Perform the following steps to remove
DataGate
1.
Select Start – Settings - Control Panel.
2.
Select Add/Remove Programs.
3.
Select ASNA
DataGate for Windows Servers and Desktops 8.1.
Note that the dialog
will appear different on Windows 2000.
4.
Select the Add/Remove… button.
5.
Select Yes to begin removing ASNA DataGate for Windows Servers and Desktops 8.1.
Select No to return to the previous screen.
Unfortunately, there is currently not a convenient
way to remove the Acceler8DB Sources icon from the Windows desktop. However, you can remove by following the
instructions below.
To Remove Acceler8DB Sources Icon from the
Desktop
1.
Go to an MS-DOS command prompt by selecting - (Start > Programs >
Accessories > Command Prompt).
2.
At the DOS prompt, enter:
cd "c:\program files\common files\asna
shared"
3.
Press <enter> to confirm the current directory as above.
4.
Next, enter the following:
(note that the '-' is important!).
regole -adbShell.dll
5.
Press <enter>. (There
will be no response unless there is an error).
6.
Exit the DOS Command Prompt.
Now you are back to the desktop.
7.
Press F5 to
refresh the Desktop. Acceler8DB Sources should no
longer display.
§
There is a limitation of 32 Record Formats per
Print File.
§
References are lost when restoring a file that has
referenced fields.
§
When using adbfedit with
a file that contains duplicate keys, records may be skipped when you are
browsing the file going forward, then change direction by browsing backward.
§
When using adbfedit, you
should not edit or delete a record that contains a duplicate key. Note that the first record containing that
key will be the one to be modified or deleted.
§
DataGate Server
crashes when writing to a file that has a key length greater than 249.
§ Problem viewing Hebrew Characters with Print Preview.
