MORE INFORMATION:

ASNA's recommendation is to never restore or mirror DataGate/400 due to various aspects of the restore/mirror process does not guarantee the following objects are installed/configured:

  • DataGate/400 User Profile - DG8SVCPRF;
  • Serial and Model number may not match for issued license;
  • Object permissions for the DataGate Service Profile (DG8SVCPRF);
  • DataGate/400 File Object Cache library contains old file definitions;
  • DataGate/400 Subsystem Job Queue Entries;
  • DataGate/400 Job Queues;
  • DataGate/400 Job Description;

The preferred method of providing fail-over tolerant systems is to have DataGate/400 installed on each fail-over configured machine.

Information regarding Mirroring:

The following DataGate/400 libraries should not be included within the mirroring process:

  • DG8_VCATxx - Where xx is the release number. Please note you may have several, such as 46, 47, 50, etc..
  • DG8_40 - Default library for DataGate/400 release 4.x and 5.x
