PROBLEM: Receive Error Message when Installing DataGate/400: "Object STRDG8SVR in library DG8_40 type *PGM not found"

SYMPTOMS:

Receive Error when installing DataGate/400 Object STRDG8SVR in library DG8_40 type *PGM not found".

CAUSE:

Not enough Security permissions set for profile attempting the DataGate/400 installation, i.e. STRDG8SVR type *PGM in library DG8_40 has the adopt authority attribute.

RESOLUTION:

NOTE: Please coordinate with your System Administrator or IBM regarding working with user profiles on the AS/400.

Grant more security permissions to the profile attempting the DataGate/400 installation.

MORE INFORMATION:

Message STRDG8SVR in library DG8_40 with adopt authority attribute not restored. The Allow Object Restore (QALWOBJRST) system value has been set to not allow the restore of objects that have the adopt authority attribute.

Recovery Set the Allow Object Restore (QALWOBJRST) system value to one of the following and retry the request:

ALL to allow the restore of all objects regardless of any security sensitive attributes. *ALWPGMADP to allow the restore of programs that adopt authority.
The profile has the security to high. Change it from QALWOBJRST to *ALWPGMADP would let the install finish normally.

NOTE: OS/400 v5r2 and higher you will have to perform the following:

Change the system value QFRCCNVRST from 7 to 1

STRDG8SVR is the command required to start the DataGate/400 service after it has been installed and configured.
