PROBLEM: Control Palette Missing

The information in this article applies to:

    • ASNA Visual RPG, Release 3.0 and higher
    • Registry
    • Windows

SYMPTOMS:

When working in the IDE the control palette (where all the ocx's reside, i.e. iofields, subfiles, buttons) is not on the screen.

RESOLUTION:

Control Palette has disappeared:

  1. Click View > Control Palette
  2. Make sure that the Control Palette has not been placed in an obscure location, e.g. into a corner.
  3. If this fails one can go into the registry and delete the registry entries referring to the control palette. When the AVR IDE is opened again,  it will create this again for you with the default settings.

NOTE: Changing setting in the registry incorrectly can cause your computer to crash. Follow these directions exactly or have your Network Administrator modify these registry changes.

  • To do this with AVR 3.0:

Note: Make sure Visual RPG IDE is Closed.

  1. Click Start
  2. Run
  3. Type in Regedit
  4. OK
  5. Click Plus sign (+) next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
  6. Click Plus sign (+) next to Software
  7. Click Plus sign (+) next to ASNA
  8. Click Plus sign (+) next to ASNA Visual RPG
  9. Click Plus sign (+) next to Current Version
  10. Right Click IDE Folder
  11. Select Delete
  12. Click Yes if it asks if you are sure
  13. Exit Regedit.
  • To do this with AVR 3.1 and higher:

Note: Make sure Visual RPG IDE is Closed.

  1. Click Start
  2. Run
  3. Type in Regedit
  4. OK
  5. Click Plus sign (+) next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
  6. Click Plus sign (+) next to Software
  7. Click Plus sign (+) next to ASNA
  8. Click Plus sign (+) next to ASNA Visual RPG
  9. Click Plus sign (+) next to 3.5 (Or any IDE Release you are having problems with)
  10. Right Click IDE
  11. Select Delete
  12. Click Yes if it asks if you are sure
  13. Exit Regedit.

If this doesn't fix your problem and you are on Windows 2000, XP, you may also want to try these further steps:

  1. Close AVR and run Regedit from the command line.
  2. Go the following Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ASNA\ASNA Visual RPG\3.1\IDE\Toolbars-Bar3
  3. Double Click on the XPOS key, change the base from Hexadecimal to Decimal, and change the value to 10.
  4. Double Click on the YPOS key, change the base from Hexadecimal to Decimal, and change the value to 120.
  5. Close Regedit.

Open up AVR and the Control Palette will appear.
