INFO: How do I setup Acceler8DB/DataGate for Windows 7.0 to use Security 20The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARY:Acceler8DB 5.0 and DataGate for Windows (formerly Acceler8DB) now has the ability to setup secure databases on Windows. The security provided is similar to OS/400 Security Level 20 which effectively grants all or nothing access to a database based on a valid userid/password. This new capability works with native Windows features to allow the administration of database security using the built-in system facilities. Once defined, every request to open a secured database will succeed only if the credentials provided by the client contain the requisite privileges as defined by the database's permissions settings. If the open request succeeds, then the requesting client is granted complete access to every file in the database. If the request fails, the client is denied access of any kind to the database and its contents. MORE INFORMATION:The DataGate server now has the ability to effect authorization control on its database similar to OS/400 Security Level 20. This is accomplished by utilizing the security features of Windows and NTFS as follows:
Example: Database label adb, located in "C:\Databases\adb"
