PROBLEM Receiving Error 903: Cannot connect to database server on Windows

The information in this article applies to:

• Acceler8DB, Release 4.6 and Higher
• Windows

SYMPTOMS:

When attempting to create the database for your application, you are getting an error that you cannot connect to the database server, even though it is the local machine you are working on.

Here are several error messages:

• Error 903: Cannot connect to database server
• Error Server can't be found

Note: If you are receiving error 903 in a Peer-to-Peer network, please review this article.

CAUSE:

When performing that ASNA default deployment install, you did not select that "Acceler8DB engine" option (component).

RESOLUTION:

Perform the deployment install again, however this time selecting the "Acceler8DB engine" option (component).

MORE INFORMATION:

NOTE:  To install Acceler8DB Engine on a Windows NT, 2000, or XP Professional machine, you will need to be signed in as Administrator.

Acceler8DB Engine (Server) is not selected to be installed by default on deployment machines.
